For restoring faded car headlights. I've found many other uses for them as well, such as polishing the bottom (inside) of pots and pans that have become stained over the years, or even those that have burned food in the pan. I do this on a drill press, but you can use a hand drill as well. A friend of mine who is an old car restorer uses them to buff new paintwork in places where a standard buff would not fit. It seems a little strange that I can't find anyone who only sells replacement pads. I don't need a new mandrel with every last order! (I apply a lot!) Generally great!
