I bought this mic on purpose so my kids wouldn't ruin my SM58. For this purpose it works great. Sonically, they don't even come close compared to the SM58, and I'm not trying to be a snob. However, it works similarly and looks and feels very similar. However, it smells like factory or cheap cardboard. The first thing you notice about the sound is that the bass is very "booming" compared to the SM58. That's okay because you can balance it out. The mic still sounds fantastic for the price IMHO. I haven't tried the unbalanced cable that came with it, so no comment. However, as mentioned, mine doesn't "click" when I plug the cable in, so the cable can be pulled out fairly easily. Again, come on, the mic is pretty damn free so can't really complain. As a professional mic I would give it 2 stars but since you know what you are paying for it deserves 4 stars. I removed one due to a broken cable lock. I might pick up another one for the smell, but then again, you know why it's so cheap, right?
