New doesn't mean new

Bought for my 5 year old son because his cousin got the same one last year and he loved it so we knew how to use it we know the quality. This did not live up to expectations. Bought for Christmas so when it arrived in a nondescript brown box we didn't think much about it so we wrapped it up and put it under the tree. There was no maker's mark on the box when it was opened. It wasn't labeled or boxed like it would be sold in a store. Everything inside was there and looked in good condition so we weren't worried. Now that our snow is cleared, we took it outside to use for the first time. Batteries inserted and switched on. The engine runs louder than I remember, but that's not a big problem. The indicator light does not work as advertised and flashes during the ball's impact, not before the impact. Balls are thrown extremely inconsistently, with some landing three feet in front of the batsman and some flying over the batsman's head. Not as wildly back and forth, but still inconsistent enough to know it's not working properly. Having used it I suspect it was not exactly a 'new' product as advertised but was a return or demo that was not working properly. Either that or it's a fake that Revain is selling as an official product. It's too late to return to Revane now. Disappointed with this purchase and Revain.
