How to repair this inverter

Two things you must do when you receive this inverter: 1. Try it2. Register on the Wagan website to receive a one-year warranty (if you do not register within 30 days of purchasing the product, you will not be eligible for the warranty, which I was not able to do). I bought this inverter a few months ago. and it remains only to test. As soon as I connected it to the battery, I heard a pop (I think the inverter was on when I connected it to the battery, so make sure it's off when connected to power) and the green one The inverter light did not turn on. I tried it on my car battery to be on the safe side. I decided to open the inverter. There are 2 screws on each side and the sides will loosen but don't pull back once the wires are connected. You can peel back the sides and peel off the white protective cover to reveal the circuit board. I looked inside and nothing looked fried on the board. I noticed there was a 40 amp fuse in there so I pulled it out (with needle nose pliers) and the fuse blew. I have just ordered a Bussmann VP/ATC-40 40 amp fast acting blade fuse (pack of 25) and will let you know after I have replaced the fuse and used the unit for a while. I will say that the electronics inside look pretty good. Besides the fact that the block doesn't work out of the box, I like that it's small. I like that it has 2 USB ports and 2 regular outlets. I'm building a camping solar power station to charge cell phones and such. Update: The new fuse did the trick. The inverter works again!
