I bought this teleprompter to embed in a DSLR video system to create YouTube videos. I use SmallRig components built around a 15mm rail so I figured this would work well with my camera system. Unfortunately, this device is a disappointment. First, the quality of the GlideGear components leaves a lot to be desired. The fit and finish is a far cry from the quality of other 15mm rail accessories like SmallRig, Camvate or Niceyrig. The GlideGear tolerances on these rail components are sloppy and difficult to match with 15mm accessories from different brands. With SmallRig everything glides like clockwork, with this GlideGear device you are constantly battling rails to align with your accessories and mounts. Second, the frame that holds the mirror glass is thin and doesn't even sit flush with the tablet's screen. . If you're thinking about using this with a shoulder strap, don't worry. The glass will bounce around all over the place if you move the camera at all. Second, the metal is so thin that the glass frame isn't square in relation to the tablet's screen. They must be at right angles to each other or your reflected text will be distorted at an annoying angle. Third, there is no way to adjust the angle of the glass so that the presenter can easily read the text on the teleprompter. This is a major disadvantage as you must first consider getting the teleprompter at a comfortable reading angle before framing the image for the video. If the framing looks good, the teleprompter is at the wrong angle, if you make the teleprompter visible, your video frame composition is wrong. Not cool. This tool should make it easier, not harder, to create videos. Fourth, the lens hood shown in the Revain listing is not included. In fact all the Revain photos need to be updated as they do not match the product I received. The lens hood I received wasn't a nice square fit as shown in the photos. It was a unkempt nylon sock that bunched up and often covered the corners of the frame if you weren't very careful. Look at the product images on Revain and carefully compare them to the customer images posted in the reviews. The hoods do not match, the two photos in the Revain product listing show that the angle of the mirror can be adjusted. Even the gold hardware in the photos is black when you unbox it in person. Poorly. Fifth, the camera mount is poorly constructed. There is a single 1/4" screw that connects the camera to the platform. Tightening the camera is tricky, and there's no way to use a second screw to ensure the camera doesn't shift or shift. on site. I added a quick release plate to the GlideGear camera mount - it needs that second screw mount to keep everything aligned. Your best bet is to forgo the included camera mount and replace it with one from Camvate, but that's an extra $60 to get one that works properly. Sixth, the included guides are too short for use with professional lenses. Zoom lenses f/4 and 24-70 f/2.8. It works great with smaller lenses like my 50mm prime or 85mm out of the box, but zooms are what I wanted to use for this project. The included rails are not long enough to fit a medium sized zoom lens, camera body and tablet in this teleprompter. You can buy longer rails, but that's another $30 you're spending to get everything working. Seventh, the bag is garbage. It comes with a pouch but is mostly useless. It is inconvenient to load and unload the teleprompter. When you fold it all falls together. It doesn't offer much protection. There are two large pieces of styrofoam floating in a cheap ziplock bag. It's badly designed. This product works like a teleprompter but requires major design changes to make it a quality product. I have returned my teleprompter and will spend more to buy another brand that is properly designed.
