I bought this sponge about 7 months ago and have been using it to wash dishes every day since. It's just starting to crumble. I suspect it will be a few more months before I need to replace it. I like to use a natural dishwashing sponge because it never smells. Natural sponges don't harbor bacteria like synthetic ones if you keep them clean (i.e. rinse all food, soap, etc. after each use). The sponge softens when wet and will not scratch the dishes. On the downside, it's too soft for any serious cleaning - like baked foods etc. However, this sponge does 95% of my dishwashing work.
