Dog approved, great for easy access to stitching

My Australian Shepherd thinks this is a fantastic item. Much easier to walk around and lick his sterilized incision than that nasty cone. The comfy cone scared him a little because he'd never worn a cone before and he's a fragile, sensitive snowflake. Made us feel bad. The night before he had squeezed himself into a corner of his crate and didn't know how to back away with the cone, so he woke us up by scratching the bottom of his crate loudly, thinking it would be a good solution that was a little less was intense than the cone. It was less intense! I woke up this morning to find him with a wet, raw cut that he'd been licking for who knows how late at night. He licked off the healing/scab in two days. Instead of enjoying my coffee on the patio on a Sunday morning, I enjoyed spending half a day at our $260 emergency veterinary office. It was a very expensive cone due to the vet visit and antibiotics PLUS I didn't even get a full refund when I sent the damn thing back (I had to pay for return shipping). This thing *might* work for a dog with a shorter body like a bulldog, but anyone with a long body will slink right around it. He's Australian, not even a Doxy or a Basset Hound. On the plus side, it didn't block his vision as promised. If you are looking for a silly accessory for your dog, this is a great choice. If you really want to prevent the dog from getting into the healing zone, buy something else. Comfy Cone worked great for us. Once he got used to it, he just pouted whenever he had to wear it. That donut collar is nothing more than useless; it cost me $267.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
