We washed these containers before use and they were easy to clean. I've used them to store fresh fruit and veg and they've made my fridge so much more organized! I can easily see what we have and plan meals based on that. My husband asked me to buy more as they help to use the fridge space. Baskets are also handy for storing bread in the fridge and keeping it fresh. I have not washed them in the dishwasher, I have always hand washed them, not sure how they will look in the dishwasher. Edit (9/19/2021): I wanted to add that they are not dishwasher safe. My husband tried washing them in the dishwasher and the container warped slightly making the lid difficult to put on. It's still usable, which is why we still love our set! I still use them mainly for fruit and veg, I have another clear bread bin that we prefer to use.
