Review on AMD Ryzen 3900XT 24 Threads Processor by Jnis Bisters ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I really like the product, it fully meets my expectations.

The OEM processor that AMD sells for workstations under the "Ryzen 9 Pro" brand. In stock, this is a Ryzen 9 3900X with a cut base frequency and maximum boost, but the consumption is only 65 watts. With overclocking, it does not concede anything. I don’t know if I won the “silicone lottery” or the quality of the chips in these processors is better, because here 65W and the processor was originally made for workstation integrators, but I was able to overclock to 4.3GHz without any problems for all cores under 1.2V. Reading reviews of the 3900X, I saw many could not reach 4.2GHz on all cores even at 1.35V. ate: The problem is not IF. My CPU quietly works at 1900Mhz (so that it goes under 3800Mhz memory at 1: 1). I tested 1900Mhz and 3600Mhz memory, there were no errors in MEMTest for 6 hours, which means that in my case the problem was not in it. I have since bought a G. Skill Trident Z memory on a Samsung B-die which is rated 3800Mhz on 16CL. I lowered the timings to 14CL at 3800Mhz, it runs normally without errors at 1:1 memory to IF. Looks like the problem was specifically in my original memory on Hynix CJR.

Pros
  • The cost, the ability to overclock both manual and boost from AMD, which actually equalizes with the 3900X. Cold, it will heat up much less than 3900X if used in stock.
Cons
  • I'm a little picky about memory, I bought with him a memory kit based on Hynix CJR, 8GB x4 strips. The native XMP profile at 3800Mhz gave errors during tests, the only way to stabilize it is either to increase the memory timings or go down to 3600Mhz. Although I'm not sure here, this is a problem of the stone itself or the Asus Crosshair VIII Hero. The memory definitely has nothing to do with it, because on my old Intel-based PC it starts up without problems with XMP.
