In my experience this is the easiest way to put a screen protector on an iPad and I am very happy with this improvement, it's just a few small things any manufacturer can do and this manufacturer has done a great job . The side of the iPad is the same as any other screen protector, but with an additional outer film with two brackets so you can hold it in place without touching the actual protector and easily align the screen protector. Then just put the iPad on the screen, no need to press it, just put it on the screen, let it settle down, and in less than 1 minute everything will be fine. The last film is recorded. Look at the photos: the first is an iPad with a screen protector and the second is just a screen protector (two included). Not sure how protective it is as I've only had it a few days but so far it's holding up very well and is easy to install. One complaint I do have is the fingerprints though, so they're easy to put on.
