Review on πŸ‘• Amazon Essentials Slim Fit Cotton Pique: Stylishly Flattering and Comfortable for Everyday Wear" by Eric Glup

basic polo; not perfect, but good enough.

I work in a leisure agency so polo shirts are part of my everyday 'uniform'. I'm usually picky about the fit and feel of my clothes, but I'm not obsessed with it. I first bought one of these shirts as a test run, and while I wouldn't call it the perfect polo, I bought three more to replace some of Gap's aging shirts. Shirt size is ok. I'm 6ft, 175lbs, medium height and M is exactly what slim fitting shirts should be: not loose fabric but not tight either. The shoulders and sleeves fit me well, but if I were more muscular I wouldn't be as comfortable. I would have preferred the shirts to be a bit longer as I usually wear them open and once on they ride up a bit when I bend over but that is to be expected. Tucked shirts are great. Stylistically there is not much to complain about here. The shirts are unfilled but are almost indistinguishable from the more expensive polo shirts I've bought at places like the Gap. I would have preferred a three-button collar, but a two-button collar isn't the key. I wasn't impressed with the range of colors but they have enough variety that I can find a few that I can live with. I bought black, burgundy, hunter green and yellow and all but yellow seemed to match the colors listed. The yellow I received was lighter than the bright yellow in the photo but I was not disappointed. The shirts appear to be of good quality. The seam is full and even. The fabric is tightly woven but lighter than the gap shirts I have, although not see-through even on yellow. The fabric is not very soft but does not scratch. It has a slight stretch (about 1-2mm/cm). The collar is well shaped but not too stiff. At this point it's impossible to tell how well it holds up to repeated washings, although I wouldn't be surprised if the fabric softens a bit and fades a bit. In general the shirts are of acceptable quality and fit well. I don't think any of these will be my new favorites but if I can use them for a few years they will be exceptional value considering their price. Other brands may offer more style or comfort, but first of all I don't think there is anything about this shirt that would turn a customer off.
