FWIW, I had a leak in this very specific spot, all indications are that this solved the problem. It was a hassle to replace this gasket (there is also a 'compression nut' that will probably need to be replaced as part of this). When you're done, the leakage will have reduced a bit, but it's still an issue. I ended up buying a motor and pump assembly (GE WD26X10013 which I bought for a little over a hundred) which only required a little more effort to replace and fix all the leaks. I wish I hadn't bothered with this nifty bit at all.
