First off, this key looks exactly like mine original factory key and actually feels higher quality! Even with a small Ford emblem sticker on the back. But the best part is that you can program them yourself and you don't have to take them to a dealer or locksmith to program them. I have a 2015 Ford Expedition Limited. I doubted if I could program this new key myself (DIY). Most people said they took their "remote key" to a locksmith or dealer. But I found the following instructions work fine. My Expedition doesn't have an ignition key slot, it's just a start button. Using a key shaped slot in the back wall of the center console storage compartment and my two factory programmed keys, I was able to program this new key in less than 2 hours. Protocol! In earnest. No locksmith, no dealer. I still have to carve the metal servant key, but it's very cheap. PROGRAMMING INSTRUCTIONS DIY: You must have two previously programmed smart access keys in the vehicle and the new unprogrammed smart access keys easily accessible. If the two previously programmed keys are not available, you will need to take your vehicle to an authorized dealer to have the replacement key(s) programmed. Make sure the vehicle is turned off before beginning this procedure. Before beginning this procedure, ensure that all doors are closed and that all doors remain closed throughout the procedure. Follow this procedure exactly as outlined below and complete all steps within 30 seconds of the start of the sequence. If steps aren't in the correct order, stop and wait at least a minute before trying again.1. Place the new, unprogrammed Smart Access Key in the pocket in the center console.2. Press the driver's or passenger's door unlock button three times.3. Press and release the brake pedal once.4. Press the driver's or passenger's door lock button three times.5. Press and release the brake pedal once. The light on the start/stop button should begin to flash rapidly, indicating that programming mode has been entered and two programmed Smart Access Keys have been found in the vehicle.6. Within one minute, press the Start/Stop button. A message will appear on the message center stating that the new smart access key has been programmed. If your vehicle already has four smart access keys programmed, you will no longer be able to program them and the message MAXIMUM NUMBER OF KEYS will appear in the message centre. Remove the smart access key from the pocket in the center console and press the unlock button on the newly programmed smart access keys to exit programming mode.8. Make sure the remote access functions are working (press lock then unlock and make sure you unlock at the end) and that the car starts with the new smart key. When the smart access key has been successfully programmed, it can be used to activate the smart access function with the start button and start the car.
