This is the second game my kids have played with action and character cards. The first was Exploding Kittens, which I thought was a great start because there was no strategy, because there was no long-term impact, and there was nothing you could do but just not draw the exploding kitten. In this game you have to bring a certain number of unicorns to your stable. However, other players can steal and kill your unicorns, so a strategy is enough for them, where they can choose between 3 options: 1) Build your stable 2) Protect your stable 3) Attack your opponents That's it. The options are so limited that you can figure it out after just a couple of spins, and it's a great game for beginners if you ever want to get them involved in MTG or some other horribly convoluted strategy game. Once they perfect their strategy for this game (or they get bored, but I plan to buy the Dragon expansion soon) I plan to introduce them to Smash Up, which makes the game a bit more difficult but keeps the same basic concept.
