I bought this because my scalp is always itchy. I don't have dandruff, just an itchy scalp. Even after several lightening and deep conditioning sessions and three months of hair care, my head was very itchy. This shampoo/conditioner really helped get rid of the itching. I used it 1-2 times a week during my normal hair routine and after about a month of use I noticed a huge difference. I still occasionally use the shampoo as a wash, but my favorite is the conditioner, which I mix with the wash at least once a week. The smell from the bottle is very strong but it doesn't last long on my hair which is great. I don't think it necessarily adds shine or softness to my hair but that's not why I bought it so I'm fine with that. Overall I really like this product and I think it definitely helps with an itchy scalp.
