This item is amazing! I bought it because opening our glass porch door for our cat allowed bugs, birds and everything in between to enter our porch. This pet door was a lot cheaper than a new pet door with the pet door installed; and it was easy to install. I had to buy a jigsaw puzzle but the instructions for the door were clear and simple. I even installed it when my three youngest kids were playing outside at a safe distance (even when they were distracted from playing I was able to track and install it successfully). Our cat is just over 8 pounds and I used an x-small cut-out. Works perfectly! A few notes - for a narrower door you will need to strip away some of the inner metal of the pet door (makes sense if/when you order one). It's not difficult, but I was pretty sure I broke down the pet door when I did it. Obviously I wasn't, but it was unnerving at first. Second, if you have a long haired cat like ours, her fur will gather on the door when she enters/leaves. This is not a deal breaker at all! But you have to be aware of that - we film it every few days. Overall I'm very pleased and am considering buying one for our downstairs patio door. Very satisfied!
