I bought this to install in my bedroom door so I can close the door at night and allow my little explorer to get in and out. I used the template provided and traced it on my door and then cut it out with a jigsaw. I screwed the cat door on and rehung the door and the whole thing took about 20 minutes. My beast passed immediately and everything is fine!

Suitable for small cats, medium sized cats and large stocky cats. And they all love to hop in and out and get free scratches. Fortunately, it makes no noise, is very easy to install and is perfect for a hollow core interior door. I don't know if a Maine Coon is enough, but my stockiest cat is 19 pounds and doing fine.

Installation first. Comes with a template to attach to your door and trace to give a line to cut with your jigsaw. The main problem I have with cutting is that the underside of the cat door cuts through the solid board that makes up the door frame. The cut starts straight up but then makes a sharp bend (still in the frame part of the door). This was difficult with the jigsaw as the transition from vertical to curve was not gradual.
