KM636 is the wireless version of Dell KM216 and MS116 models. A good thing. The original version was merged with Logitech, modified versions became generic for Dell.(1) Same idea. 1 key for 6 devices. Unfortunately they are not cross compatible and Dell does not sell replacement keys. (2) KB requires 2 AAA and Mouse requires 1 AA. KB and M have physical slide switches to turn them off. Mine was wrapped in Duracell for OEM batteries. 4-star rating because replacement keys are difficult/impossible to obtain through official channels.1. I spent more on the "original" KM636 because I like the idea that if I lose the key I can buy a merging key cheaply if I need to. If it's new in the box, you can tell from the back of the box when you see the real box before you buy it. Unfortunately, I came across the universal version from Dell. (See the circled Dell Universal logo in the image.)2. My day job deals with pricing/specs for new hardware including Dell and I asked our customer service representative. He told me they weren't. (I was going to buy some KM714 kits at work, but since I couldn't buy spare keys, I opted for Logitech's merging kit instead.)
