I haven't had it that long so can't say much about the battery life. I've used it twice and it's still at max performance. I chose this device for two reasons: I needed a thinner bikini brush and I thought it was the same brand as one I've been using for 15 years but is now dead for good. Here's the thing, first off, no electric shaver is going to give you a close shave so don't expect it. If you can get one that does this, chances are you don't have thick, coarse hair. I buy mine just as a trimmer and shave with a razor. Turns out my old set was a Panasonic. It never stuck and had great power. It was just big and uncomfortable in small areas. After using this Remington trimmer I found it to be a great backup trimmer, does a good job on thin delicate areas and I love the brow trimmer. I'm keeping it but have ordered another Panasonic as the only thing I have complained about is that it doesn't shave well. None of them do, so that's ok with me.
