Out of the way. Keep your hands free.

Holds up well on my descent through the gorges, it slipped off the pack strap a few times but didn't when I went down which was nice. It only slipped when I had to aim the camera or swim in cold pools of water. The angle was good when setting up your GoPro for widescreen shots. If you have long hair, tie it up. Because my braids have caught the eye a few times and it's not the product. I had to pull a sock underneath because the velcro got in the way of my backpack strap and I like to keep the straps in good condition for my pack's health.
