This tape is significantly thicker than many other tapes of its kind. You can really feel the difference, although it is actually microscopic. I've used other bands and this one is definitely stiffer meaning it doesn't bend or twist as easily as the other bands. This is good for many shipping, packaging, and sealing needs, but not all. Sometimes you need a band that bends easily. I use this tape on a manual dispenser. The blade on the dispenser cannot make clean cuts with this tape and leaves "scratches". Maybe that's because of its thickness. I didn't have this problem with the "Strong Start" tape, also from 3M/Scotch, which is a bit thinner. I also have another thinner tape in case I need it (sold by U-line). This "Commercial Grade" clear tape is similar in thickness to 3M/Scotch "Heavy Duty" tape, the adhesive is different and is likely to give this tape a more "yellow" color (on the roll). 4.5 stars.
