Works great mounting, in my case, flat artwork to the wall. It didn't tear or mar the painted wall surface, but in only small cases (you have to be extremely careful). The gel-like adhesive is very strong, and would not be recommended for delicate wall surfaces (that includes wallpaper) and removing it from paper or paperboard artwork can tear its surface. This stuff seems pretty "permanent." I used to install my MFA senior gallery show and it held pieces that were 10 to 12 feet long. Make sure to measure the wall with a level and place pencil marks on the edge of the artwork to mount before mounting artwork to wall. The adhesive tape sticks quickly and repositioning it can be a pain. Once it's stuck down, it's down. The tape works better than some "permanent" tape as those are virtually permanent. This tape, however, is not 3M type removable or reposition-able tape. Also, a few strips of tape does the trick. The stuff is somewhat expensive, so easy on how much to use. I don't know the weight to tape ratio holding power: you may need to read up for that. Removing the backing film from tape is tricky: the film is very thin, and may require you to use a thin x-acto knife to get just under the backing film to remove it. Be careful as to not cut yourself.
