I bought this about 4 months ago to work on a house I'm building. The roof is very steep and high. I was at the top of my 20 foot extension ladder, well not the top, but as high as you could go. The ladder collapsed and the next thing I knew I was dangling from the edge of the roof by that seat belt. My friend ran up and the first thing I said was "Seat belts work!". I was very careful not to let the line slack as I climbed the stairs and got to my work station. . When I fell I had 2 or 3 feet of line slack. It didn't hurt me at all falling from a few feet and the buckle on the back didn't hit my head. I didn't fall far enough to dislodge part of the system's shock cord. Good product!
