Removing the white backing is no easy task, but once you've removed the backing you can easily hold the backing long enough that you never have to try to peel it off again. The tape is very sticky. Works great with fabric, not sure I would put something that sticky on a hard surface. My cat didn't seem to get close to where we glued. So far, so good!
