Review on 🔊 Wolverine WIOS-5.8 Wireless Indoor-Outdoor Twin Speakers: 5.8GHz and Bluetooth Dual Band Surround Sound (Gray) by Kaushik Sokolowski

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Good sound, but sockets and batteries in my house are expensive.

These speakers are big and bulky, I appreciate a rugged construction for outdoor use. I prefer to use them indoors but when I opened the battery compartment and saw that each speaker takes 6 AA batteries. Wow! Batteries are a priority in my house with two young children and their many battery powered devices. And I really didn't want to use 12 precious batteries just for listening. So I decided to use an AC adapter and then had trouble finding available outlets around the house. Yes, sockets are also in high demand in my almost 100-year-old house. And not only does every speaker need a plug, but WIOS speakers also need a receiver to function "wirelessly". So clear 3 exits for these baddies. That's it for "wireless". The sound was good, but I don't think it beats the BluNote or QUBFour that I own. Initial Bluetooth pairing was fairly easy. My iPod recognized WIOS immediately. However, when I turned off the speakers or receiver (not in standby), no sound came out of the speakers. I checked my iPod's Bluetooth menu and it said WIOS was paired. And all WIOS indicators were on but nothing played. So I had to "forget" WIOS and reconnect. This happened several times and was a problem. I do not want it. Lights add to the coolness, but I'm not sure they're used much. Unless I was a great entertainer and often gathered company at parties or backyard movies, I don't see the need for these big, bulky and uncomfortable speakers.

Pros
  • Rugged finish
Cons
  • Modern
