This HydraPak soft bottle is a great size (600mL) for carrying a few on a Day Hike. I've detected no plastic scent or flavor, and definitely appreciate the "collapse as you draw water through the bite valve". The size allows perhaps two in a Pack's elastic water bottle pocket, and an easy carry in a shoulder strap mounted mesh water bottle pocket - this size provides a good volume of water and a reasonable weight at the shoulder.Note, however, that the collapse of the bottle can be a mixed blessing. It affords packing multiple bottles in a small space for travel, but the collapsing nature of the bottle means it cannot stand on a nightstand or sink, and it can "wiggle its way" out of a back or front pocket. The bottle is best carried in the mesh water bottle pockets of your pack when full, used while in a shoulder strap mounted mesh pocket (the extended top with bite valve affords dip your head to drink access and a shoulder pocket affords easy out and in for use).
