Review on Convenience Concepts American Heritage 3 Tier by Megan Lucas

A good inexpensive, solid table, very functional, but only after serious assembly problems.

All in all I have a nice functional little table now that I'm done. It was only after that that problematic and awkward assembly ensued due to mismatched parts and improper drilling of holes at the factory. First, let me clarify my skills - I'm a seasoned homeowner and jack of all trades. I've remodeled my kitchen, bathroom, and basement, assembled all kinds of cabinets and furniture, and even designed and built my own furniture in my wood shop. I have a full set of hand and power tools - not the typical person who would otherwise have to deal with assembling this simple piece of furniture - rather what "should have been easy" if it weren't for the incorrectly drilled/staggered holes would be. First, the holes for wooden pegs (a type of wooden peg commonly used to make cabinets) were too large, and instead of the pegs having to be gently tapped with a hammer to drive them into the holes (with a speck of glue), they were sloppy and loose . Instead of pins/holes aligning the parts and holding them in place during assembly, the parts wobbled and my wife had to hold them up while I put the other parts in place, which was an easy one man job should make a difficult work. . task for two. I had to align the pieces with miter and T-elbows and pinch/tighten them until the glue was dry. Second, and much worse, the pre-drilled holes in the bottom shelf (which had threaded metal inserts for matching screws) didn't line up with the pre-drilled holes in the legs - they were 1/8 to 1/4 inch... and the leg slots in the shelf wouldn't let me line up the holes. After a few failed attempts (and resulting in a "wobbly" table trying to line up the holes), I simply drilled new holes and used my own screws instead of the hex screws that came with the kit. with table. Again, I wouldn't expect an unskilled person to figure it all out and assemble this table out of the box. Yes, the end result is a nice, sturdy table at a very reasonable price. However, instead of half an hour (as it should have been) it took 2 hours, multiple attempts and possible build changes. If you are looking for an easy assembly, this table is NOT for you.
