The second one I bought had the filter coming loose due to pump vibration I think. It's stainless steel, so a magnet won't help you detach it from the bottom of the fountain. I used screw sealant on this screw to keep it from falling off. It copes with its task, but sometimes sand gets into the valve and water seeps down, which requires filling the pump.
