Good idea, but bad design flaws make it unstable.

. for its ability to pivot on the arm extension to bring the phone closer to you and away from radio buttons and air vents. Before the phone was placed on the mount, it felt fairly solid and the ball joints seemed to have enough friction to keep them from moving from the vibrations of the ride. Unfortunately, the lack of threaded nuts on the rotating ball joints combined with the very rigid plastic construction made this mount very unstable with a phone attached. As you can see in the video above, when the phone is plugged in, the assembly shakes with minimal impact, so it's constantly shaking while driving, making the instructions difficult to read while driving due to the vibrating text. The road was smooth or bumpy, the mount just wasn't made of hard enough plastic to avoid wobbling from minor road vibrations. the ball joint holds the magnet in place under its own weight during movement. Because of these issues, I did not find this particular mount very comfortable in normal driving and found the constant movement too distracting, so I would not recommend this mount without the harder plastic and locking ball joints in the design. .On the other hand, the CD player mount in my car worked very well and stayed strong, and the magnets in the mount are much stronger than the old Scosche mount shown in the video. However, this also turned out to be a problem, as another reviewer mentioned. Attempting to remove the phone by hand will cause the ball joints to tilt and distort your position, and it takes a lot of force to potentially pry the entire bracket out of your CD player over time. For this reason I would probably recommend trying the Scosche MAGCD2 CD mount or something similar, as the ball joint on this mount can be locked and there is no extra lever to add to the wobble while driving.

Pros
  • PHONE HOLDER FOR UNIVERSAL USE: A 3-in-1 universal car phone holder set that can be used in the car's CD slot, dashboard or air vent; Use the CD tray's adjustable swing arm to move the device away from the car's air vent, stereo or shifter.
Cons
  • Upgradable.
