Just what I needed to power my new car stereo

This DROK timer was just what I needed. On my small convertible PT Cruiser, the CAN bus does not power an aftermarket stereo without an adapter module. And even then the performance is not enough and my TIPM (intelligent power module) is at risk. My solution to this was to start the circuit with a battery fuse and then connect it to the DROK timer relay. It is not possible to get power directly with the key in the accessory position without going through the TIPM. The ignition switch itself is a "smart switch" that changes resistance. The TIPM uses the resistor values to decide what to do. To circumvent all of this, I plugged in an outlet (which is powered by TIPM) to simply start the DROK timer. The timer then starts the relay which gives me 30 amps of current. The socket is disconnected during engine start. But the DROK timer keeps the circuit hot while the engine is cranking and gives me whatever amount of power I want after the key is off. I installed this DROK timer and relay on a metal plate under the steering column for easy access if I later want to change the program. I currently have it set to power me for 20 seconds when the key is off. Programming the DROK timer was very easy. The menu is simple and there is no problem figuring out how to program it using the instructions provided. You can see how I connected it in my photo.
