This is one of those products that I love and hate at the same time. I love how soft the blade is against my skin - no irritation or scratches. But while it's gentle, it still cuts quickly, easily, and fairly close to the skin. However, all this spoils the way the blade is attached to the handle. It sits on a pivot bar that allows the blade to wiggle during use. The manual recommends holding the base of the blade with your finger to minimize vibration and movement. This works, but greatly reduces maneuverability in tight quarters. Why the blade body is on a flexible shaft is beyond me - it's unlike any other detail trimmer, and its flexibility does far more harm than good. The overall build quality is quite light and cheap. This is not a trimmer that will last for years and not survive a fall onto hard ground. The trimmer guides are a little awkward to put on and take off. The build quality is no worse than other cheap trimmers, but considering this is Panasonic I was expecting a better fit and finish. It is powered by one AA battery which is not included. I had no problems with battery operation. While blade performance is excellent, the overall design and build quality brings my rating down to 3 stars. It's a shame because if this blade unit was attached to a trimmer with a better finish and design it would definitely be a 5 star trimmer.
