It does exactly what it promises, allows the user to switch from one signal path to another. It's lightweight but equipped with sturdy switches and rubber grips. Pros: 1. Bidirectional, you can set it up to accept input and have two output options or vice versa. (This is the advantage of a non-powered device) 2. Durable metal body3. No power supply (requires no power supply) Cons: 1. Light weight, cables on the back can prevent the device from being flush. (Something that is not a problem in the 8-port version)2. Without power (does not amplify the signals coming from it). Bottom line: This unit comes in handy if you're missing the RCA connectors or, like me, need to switch between two output monitors. The lack of a powered design is both beneficial and detrimental as it changes the usefulness of a signal booster to one that can move the signal in any direction the user desires. Personally, I find the low weight to be a hindrance and also that once installed it is not suitable for flush mounting. Overall, though, I'd highly recommend it, or at most its 8-port siblings, as they're extremely useful in any legacy AV setup.
