After using my little old magnetic float for about 10 years I decided to buy a new one. This one was very cheap compared to others, some "famous brands" were $60-$70 which is ridiculous! I use this for 55 gallons and the magnetism is good enough to erase it quite easily. I used this mainly for attaching the scraper. I thought it was metal but it's plastic. But it removes seaweed from the gravel line better than I thought. My old vacuum cleaner without a scraper couldn't get there. Overall, I'm happy with this cheap vacuum cleaner. And for those who say their scraper falls off, make sure you SQUEEZE it FULL. It seems that the farther you push it, the further away it gets from the glass. However, this is not the case. And my good but pull to retire
