When mounted on bars it will not fall out by itself. No earthquake will remove it. It locks the wire in place. If you use more than one, you can hang pictures on them off-center, which is important if the rivets are off-center. In addition, using more than one makes it even more difficult for the trolley wire to accidentally detach. I have successfully hung heavy objects with it. For example, I used three to hang a heavy wide hanger. I used two strong wires and two heavy duty hooks behind the hanger. The stand is very secure. The rivets are a little off center on the hanger, but since I use 3 of them it's easy to move the hanger to the center and stay there. The hanger is stable and reliable.
