12 crayons never seemed like enough variety and kids tend to lose their crayons before using the long ones - so it seems silly to pay for long pins . I like them so much that I can get something to play with them. I'm certainly not an artist, but who really grows beyond drawing and painting? We had no trouble sharpening them, which is nice - I've had crayons that break the point once you've finished sharpening the wood and just starting to show real color. The colors are beautifully bright, the pencil color blends seamlessly into the page. Kids have trouble keeping track and I almost wish I hadn't messed around with 24 packs as they can only find about 12 at a time anyway - something to think about if you hate searching around the house for crayons and looking for pencils . and your children still find it difficult to clean up after themselves. 4 stars is a solid thing to expect.
