I looked at several large ferrorods, some costing three times as much, before settling on this one. I'm not Daniel Boone, an outdoor enthusiast, but wanted something to practice my fire starting skills and throw in my camping/hiking gear. I'm glad I bought this one. I just received it but it looks like it will suit my needs. Iron rod, lanyard and scraper are included. He is strong! He scrapes off part of the protective coating and emits sparks like crazy. If you are planning to gift someone a ferro staff, this is what you need. It comes in a very, very nice gift box. I don't understand how they can sell this beautifully packaged item for such a price. If you're looking for a serviceable ferro rod, don't spend $30 or more, buy this one.
