At $200 that's 5 stars. for $300, or maybe not. What it is - A stainless steel body with a burner that heats the baking stone (instead of the grill) very intensely. It has a high ceiling (and the opening is about 8 inches) which means it can function as an oven and not just a grill (actually, it probably doesn't roast well - but that's fine). Called a pizza oven, it's effective for cooking the crust (sometimes charred) while the cheese cooks due to the high heat. Other approaches to pizza don't have such a high ceiling, but it's that high ceiling that opens up other possibilities - in my case, bread. Practice: I've had the oven for a little over a month - and I've baked bread 3 times and pizza maybe 4 times. Depending on the outside temperature it can be 500ΒΊ (indoor thermometer) in 10 minutes, both with propane gas and without wind maybe 600ΒΊ. The problem is that the pizza stone will get hot enough to singe the bottom of the crust if you're not careful, and you'll have to rotate the pizza to prevent burning. After reading some other reviews I added a second pizza stone (this one is 13 inches - yes, there's plenty of room) but my loaf was 2# and the crust was still burnt - even though it was pepper/cheese bread and possibly Butter was cheese helped it burn. It seems that a 1# loaf is pretty small for the stones - and it was an attempt to use the space. Except for a thin burnt layer on the bottom, it was great - the top crust is crispy and the whole bread is done. I think I will try two 1# breads next time and will definitely try another 2# bread. Other reviews note this is a good "outdoor oven" for whole chickens and the like. Dinner tonight will be salmon in a tortilla crust, which I'll be cooking in a pan (although I'll still have to try a cold pan to make sure the door closes with the handle inwards). Potential: The benefit of not being insulated is that it's very light (30# including the first stone) - and can be taken to the park as a portable picnic stove. Fresh pizza in the park? Sounds good. Fresh bread? I don't know - no matter how good it is, how many people would like to bake bread at a picnic (unless it was a meat meal - make yourself some sandwiches). Maybe fresh cinnamon rolls for breakfast or brunch in the park. And you can make a piece of pork or a whole chicken. Again, probably no steaks or burgers, but we have regular grills for that. This is a brand new box to think about outside. I have a gas plug for my large grill. I am thinking of a natural gas pipeline to this unit. I understand it might not heat up as much with NG, but I'm not sure if that will be an issue. and I would maintain the portability of using propane for walking. warnings? The heat and the lack of insulation make it hot outside. Children need to be kept at a distance - but that's no different than a grill - although the shiny stainless steel might make it a little more welcoming to toddlers.
