Review on Nippon HC-101 4 Ohm 1-Channel 400W 120Hz Low Pass Subwoofer Crossover: Enhance Your Bass with Precision by Zachary Greene

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Ideal for DIY home theater with real subwoofer.

I bought some crossovers to see how the 3 built in home theater subwoofers I put together with my own amps would work best. It was the best I've tried for subwoofers. I was satisfied with the first try after comparison and bought the rest exactly the same. It's interesting to note that when sound delivery is applied to it, you can actually hear the noise (kind of metallic) coming from the windings across the core. I just hope this doesn't cause isolation friction. What I haven't tried is Ultra-High Volume. like at a public party. but for a loud home theater with good subwoofer effects it was ideal. By the way. lots of conflicting information to sound "full". You need to use two speakers (and two crossovers) to get all the sounds in a track, not just the left or right track, even though most deep bass tracks have basically the same deep bass on both channels. So if you're using 5.1 or 7.1 etc., bass is strictly a mono source, not a stereo source. Now if subwoofers were connected to each side of the stereo, you would get 5.2, 7.2, etc. This is my best understanding of this after a lot of reading and filtering, although some might think otherwise. As for this crossover I am very satisfied, bought more and used the others I bought for very small rooms as they sounded more like a woofer than a subwoofer like this one.
