READ. In general a good set for the money

I received the set quickly and on time. Keith seemed good from the start. I noticed a few things. The original lens is much heavier than this replacement lens. It bothered me, but it worked, and it works perfectly. After installation I didn't notice any difference except for the weight. There are tools. Cheap. I broke a pick and a plastic thing. Luckily it has two ends and I had another one. The tools are by definition uniform and ready to use without a screwdriver. The screwdriver impressed me as it was already magnetized. This helps a lot when working with very small screws that can easily get lost. Keep a few bags or containers that you can seal to store the screws. The smallest screws are about the size of a deer tick. Throw them on the carpet and you have a high chance of not finding them again. The tweezers don't work. Unfortunately I couldn't use them and had to use my own. This isn't really a problem as most homes should have some sort of tweezers and they weren't generally critical to installation but certainly useful. My screen was completely shattered. I couldn't use the suction cup (not a fault of the set). It took a lot of warmth, patience and a small portable vacuum cleaner. I messed up removing the screen and broke off the connector for the touch button. Reinstalling was almost impossible. I can connect it but it won't stay in place when I place the new glass on the tablet to complete the installation. I think I broke the part holding the connector. It didn't render my tablet unusable, but it did make it difficult to use. Again, this isn't the device's fault, it's the user's. I think I might have to put it in. I will also most likely have to buy a new kit as removing the glass and reapplying it 4 times compromised the adhesive. I put the tablet in a protective case that covers the corners that want to pop out and keeps everything stable. The most important thing to remember is patience, warmth and watching videos how to do it. Handle the LCD carefully, do not pull on the connectors, but carefully lift them up. The touch button connector does not detach in the same way as other connectors. Watch the removal video closely to see how it comes out. That was my fault. Also, take the time to remove the old glue from the frame. In some places I had to go through the razor at different angles. Don't be afraid to apply heat again to loosen it. Take your time and focus. Disconnecting the battery was a problem for me. I wasn't sure if it popped out or what and I applied some force to it. Turns out, all you have to do is slide something thin underneath to dislodge it from the connection. Nothing else. Don't try to pull it out. Just a gentle wedge. Finesse. The hair dryer worked well to provide heat. In general, this kit works, and once properly installed, works well. Believe in your abilities. It's a task that requires skill and patience and may seem overwhelming at first, but once you've taken everything apart and cleaned it will be very easy to put back together. Overall, the exchange took me about 3 hours, but I suspect it won't take long if I do it again. It's a learning curve, but not a steep one.
