Review on Viper 4816V Remote Start πŸš— 2-Way, 1-Button System: Enhanced Control and Convenience by Paul Newton

Revainrating 3 out of 5

No installation information at all Cannot select program options with a one-button remote control.

Bought because of the stylish one button remote control. I didn't need a button with buttons that duplicate the factory buttons on the Honda key. I also have the "Big Brother" model on my Jeep and it was very easy to install. This is more difficult as the remote controls do not come with the alarm clock. Not too difficult with a two-way remote as it will beep in response and change color as you cycle through the phases to connect them. The one-way method is more difficult, as it only has one LED color and does not give very positive feedback. I lowered the installation stars as no installation instructions are included nor is there a link to find them. If you go to the viper dei website, the user manual will only appear if you search for 4816V. You can find the pdf on the internet with a search. I suspect DEI is trying to protect its vendors by making installation information harder to find. I think they should at least pay you a needle if you pay full price for their product. It is very difficult to change any of the pre-programmed default settings with a one button remote. The procedure states that the lock and unlock buttons on the remote are to be used to select options, but it's clear the one-button remote doesn't have these. I will probably never buy a DEI product again after seeing them play this dirty game. In the past, you could have detailed information about how each wire worked printed on the paper and in the box. The unlock signal is ignored when the engine is running, but that's a Honda issue, not a Viper. It's quite difficult to give something that doesn't have instructions.
