Review on LispWorks by Chris Sanders

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A solid IDE and environment, too bad pricing is crazy

I like that it has good support for multiple languages (CL/Scheme). It's easy to use with other tools such as Emacs or Vim. The debugger isn't very useful in practice - you have to know what you're looking at pretty well before using breakpoints effectively. You can also get some strange behavior when running programs from within emacs if they are large enough; there may be something wrong about how lispworks handles memory management but this doesn't happen often so not sure why people complain of problems here. There were issues where we couldn't build our own packages without having to pay for them. We ended up paying $2k per year just to do basic things like building our own packages. This was really frustrating since most companies don't charge anything close to this amount even though their products cost thousands more than ours does!
