Good cleaning power, strange smell.

I have two opinions on this: (1) Yes, it works - it bleaches my whites and does a particularly good job on pinhole stains like many cleaning products I use. tried to fail miserably. It also works well for hand washing (but see the caveat below), which I've been doing a lot lately. And it's really super concentrated, so I can last me a long time with one bottle - after several months of hand washing, I've barely reached the top of the label. (2) I will probably never buy it again because of the smell. Sure, I've been using natural detergents long enough that I have to hold my breath when browsing the detergent aisles at the grocery store, but overall I'm not anti-fragrance. It's not overly synthetic, but it's a vintage scent that - unexpectedly, based on the description of "lily of the valley and jasmine with citrus" - smells to me like a classic cologne, decidedly masculine, and perhaps from the 1930s 40's, like what - what my great grandfather wore. It also stays on the fabrics washed in it for a long time - no doubt a plus for those who like it, but not for those who don't. But the strangest thing about the scent is how it changes when it gets wet. When washing my hands, I often soak things for several hours or even overnight, but I don't recommend this formula as the smell is very strange. It's difficult to define exactly, but it clearly resembles milk that's about to go sour. I'll probably go back to the even more old-fashioned method of whitewashing and using my favorite detergent in combination with bluing when I've finished.
