When the blanket arrived there was a strong odor. Washing it took care of that easily. Hanging it to dry took a very long time, I believe about 4 days. However, it was well worth the wait. My partner and I both sleep quite warm. Often, he will wake up in a full sweat. The first night we slept with this new blanket, we both woke up the next day cool and dry. We actually sometimes find it to be cooler than we would like and we add a blanket on top. It is absolutely a cooling blanket. It feels almost as if there is constant air flow all around your body even though it's covered with the blanket. It's very soft and very comfortable to sleep with. We use it every night. I would not call the blanket cozy, because it almost feels like you don't have a blanket on; that is how light the blanket feels on your skin. I highly recommend this for anyone who sleeps hot or experiences hot flashes during the night.
