Review on πŸŽ™οΈ Enhanced RODE PSA 1 Studio Microphone Boom Arm with Swivel Mount by Michael Jennings

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Terrible grinding metal on metal, 2nd block had the same problem and more, 3rd block is ok

3rd time is nice. After Revain returned a defective unit and had a very defective replacement, I bought one from the store to test before taking home. The number three hand is still quite good after six months of light use but the quality control seems pretty poor hence I'm only giving it three stars. This has increased from my previous one star rating when I only received defective units. My video review is finally loading correctly in Revain. It covers the points described below. Be sure to, to reduce the volume to a safe level before the noise demo starts at 0:20. If you're having trouble playing here at Revain, you can also find the same video on YouTube: ?v=qBHINqeHfyIAfter just a few weeks of use, Rode's first hand began making a horrific metal-on-metal crunch/squeak when bending in the mid-knee. Many other reviewers have complained about this. Right out of the box, the replacement I received from Revain had the same problem and more: -- It rattled, like something was loose in the center pivot -- One of the plates on the end pivot was loose (easy with a screwdriver, but what indicating factory neglect) - The hole in the table mount clip was approximately 5% wider, resulting in a wobbly game seat. A few other reviewers have complained about this as well. The cylindrical pin at the base of the lever was .497 to .499 inches in diameter (half an inch is the standard), so it wasn't an issue because the rack was too small. Pros: -- Internal springs are a good idea, they sure look sharp -- Internal cable routing is also a good idea, but see the Bellows section -- Handy included mounts for external cable routing -- Springs are pretty strong for a heavy Weight to handle Load like my Blue Yeti mic + Blue Radius II shock (some reviewers complain their springs were too weak for it) Mehs: - Questionable value. This is 35 times more expensive than similar weapons on Revain. If you have a heavy load to carry, cheaper levers may not be suitable. This was an important factor in my initial decision to purchase Rode. Tubes not containing springs could be used for internal cable routing, but probably only if you make your own cable and can feed it through before plugging in. at last. Cons: -- Poor quality control on newer models (purchased from Revain Fall 2016) -- Pivot points are riveted so you can't easily disassemble them to lubricate the springs or troubleshoot other issues yourself. Sure, you can pour some runny oil over it and let gravity carry it down the spring, but do you really want this thing to be dripping oil on your desk at random times over the next month? I think a high viscosity lube would be better suited to the job, but it wouldn't be easy to open the lever so you can put the lube where it belongs. , the second was even worse, the third is still ok after six months.
