Good table lamp, more or less

I've had several good table lamps over the years including several Tensors as well as other brands. My favorite of all was the expensive Luceplan Berenice lamp, the arms were very easy to adjust and the lampshade was beautiful green glass. Almost all of these lamps, including Berenice, eventually self-destructed from exposure to high temperatures. on lamp sockets and/or adjacent cable. The heat, of course, was generated by incandescent bulbs, which had to burn hot to achieve the required intensity of brightness. In contrast, the LED light element of the Saicoo light hardly heats up. So if heat is the main thing destroying these lamps, I expect this one to last a long time. I also like the possibilities offered by the Saicoo lamp. It's nice to be able to choose "warmer" or "colder" light. I choose a color temperature that works best with the computer screen nearby when it's on, or with the lights in the room when the computer is off, to avoid eye strain. Variable brightness is also useful. The touch control itself is also pleasant to use. The switch glows when the lamp is off, making it easy to find in low light or darkness. However, I have a problem with the controls. Using my example, most of them only require a light touch with the index finger, which is good. An unfortunate exception is the brightness gain control, which is finicky about pressure and finger position. This is slightly annoying, but not so much that the lamp is rejected. The Saicoo lamp arm creaks slightly when adjusting. And the hand doesn't adjust as easily as my Berenice (and I wasn't expecting that). Also, I was put off by the dents and scratches on the top of the base that came out of the box. Scratches do no practical damage. So the Saicoo lamp is not perfect. But for practical reasons, I think it's a goalkeeper.

Pros
  • Cool
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
