I don't live in an extremely cold area but they do have real winters here from time to time. I'm not a big fan of scarves, but I'm even less fond of feeling like a popsicle in human form when I go for a walk. These leggings are lightweight but warm and, perhaps most importantly to me, very, very soft. No scratchy fabric. No wire wool seams. Just gentle, comforting warmth. Oh! Something else. Fiddle with the switch a bit and you'll fix a big "Oh my GAWSH, my hair just isn't cooperating this morning." It's easy enough to change into a headscarf/headband without making me look like someone born in the 1800's. Bonus!
