This was a fun project! The feeder fit together tightly, but I don't imagine the paint is rainproof. It acts like its water-based, which means the rain will wash it away. I also think the gems won't hold up long in the rain. (I'll update after the feeder has been in the weather a few weeks.)As far as age range, I think 8-12 is about right for a self-build. Younger children could assemble with help though and are always happy to paint with their grown-ups. Overall, its a great buy as a 2 pack and I hope the manufacturer makes more!
