Review on MAISON ARTS Adjustable Mid Back Resistant by Barbara Petersen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not the best, but not terrible either.

I bought half a dozen of these to replace some very old but sturdy bar stools. Arrived undamaged, all items present. Assembly - 4 screws per chair. Some were offset slightly, but it took a little convincing to put them in place. After that, all you have to do is insert the stand into the base and adjust the height. The material seems quite durable, the stitching looks good, so there are no particular complaints about the looks. My complaints relate almost exclusively to sustainability. I'd be scared if someone sat in one with their full weight. They wobble at the top of the height adjustment but feel firmer at the bottom. Pneumatically, too, there is a fall when lifting. The air is compressed and they drop below the set value. Unless you have a nice, level floor (which is not common in very old buildings), a round base will result in more wobble. Eventually I'll probably drill a few holes and tie them to the ground, but that still won't make them strong as I need the height. They are attractive and quite comfortable, if a bit small for people with wide galleys. But if you don't up the weight rating, have a flat bottom, need a bit of height, and aren't worried they're not the absolute best value, this is a decent chair.
