These are great magnetic blocks and the best part is that they encourage independent play! We bought them for our 8 month old son who loved them straight away. He figured out how to separate them and I made a weird 'oh' noise and he laughed so hard. Now he likes to stick them on anything he can, especially the children's gate. He doesn't "build" anything with them yet, but they're still a lot of fun. And when my nephews, 3 and 4, arrive they are obsessed with building something out of them. A great toy for your child and a gift for a child aged 8 months to 5 years. Maybe even older, I just can't confirm it :)
