Review on Durable & High-Capacity: Verbatim 64GB ToughMAX USB Flash Drive for Reliable Data Storage by Anthony Robichaud

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Finally a QUALITY stick!

First of all, it's a USB 2.0 drive. Revain incorrectly listed it as "3.0". I knew that before I bought it. I was actually looking for a high capacity 64GB 2.0 flash drive as I only use 2.0 devices. Nowadays it is not very easy to find high capacity 2.0 discs. It doesn't quickly copy what I expected. Copying 50GB of data to the hard drive took about 4 hours. That's not bad at all for Speed 2.0, especially since I copied about 50,000 or so small files. I don't care about speed. It is the fact that it can complete the copy without disconnecting. I have several third-party 3.0 sticks and some turn off during copying. I'm not sure why this is, but it's very annoying. I still don't think the 3.0 spec is as reliable as the 2.0 drives. I've never had this with any 2.0 drives I've had in the past. I also wanted the drive to be built to last. Now it's all cheap plastic and flimsy metal connectors. Or worse, some companies use PLASTIC USB connectors! What were they thinking? This drive is a gem and you will recognize it the moment you take it out of the box. It is extremely reliable and incredibly durable. I suspect it is expensive for Verbatim to build such drives and I do not expect to continue production for this reason and because Flash 2.0 drives are now considered obsolete products. However, pick them up while you can. I just bought two more 64GB drives. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • A dubious purchase for the elderly
